Ricardo blasts Carrick and United’s squad quality

Former Manchester United goalkeeper Ricardo has openly criticised the current state of the club, saying United lack the right manager to run such a historic institution and that the team’s quality has slipped under Michael Carrick’s stewardship. The comments were reported by thepeoplesperson.com.

Ricardo, a Madrid‑born keeper who joined United in 2002 after progressing through Atletico Madrid’s youth set‑up, reflected on his long association with the club before delivering his assessment of the present situation.

He argued that United “have not found a way out of it” since the Sir Alex Ferguson era and that the side “started the Premier League in the bottom half” this year. The former goalkeeper added that the club “lack the right formula with Carrick” and that the squad’s overall quality is below expectations.

Speaking in broader terms, Ricardo noted that “every team has its rough patch, both institutionally and on the pitch”, and pointed to Barcelona’s recent recovery – after a difficult spell last year – as an example of how a club can turn things around. He suggested United could follow a similar path, but only if the right managerial figure is appointed.
