Manchester United eye Barrios and López as midfield options
According to The Peoples Person, Manchester United’s summer 2026 window provides a clear chance to overhaul their midfield. The club’s owners, Ineos, have already signed midfielders Carlos Baleba, Andrey Santos and Youri Tielemans, a move that has drawn criticism of the Old Trafford hierarchy months into the new season.
Despite those arrivals, United may still be seeking additional midfield reinforcement. The report notes that the club is looking for a midfielder with the characteristics of Pablo Barrios and Fermin López. López is described as a dynamic attacking and central midfielder who plays with a direct, vertical and aggressive style.
However, the same source suggests that Ineos is unlikely to spend further on a midfielder, and a move for another midfield player appears unlikely in the near future.
